Aluminum Cube Table

Product Description:

This item is handmade in Colorado out of 3/16" thick aluminum plate. These cubes can be made any size and they are light and strong. They can be used indoors or outdoors. There are no bolts, and they are welded into one piece. They are completely enclosed, besides small weep holes in the bottom to allow moisture from condensation to escape. The weep holes need to face downward. These cubes can be used as side tables, end tables, coffee tables, nightstands, dining tables, console tables, and bars. Rectangular cubes are an option that allows for longer or taller tables. Rectangular prisms make a good bar to serve and enjoy drinks.

For rectangular cubes and prisms, it is important to note the orientation in which you wish to use them. Otherwise, the weep holes could be on a side that you do not plan to use as the bottom. If you request a size that there is not currently a listing for, as described below, please include the dimensions of the face where you want the weep holes.

This item is made out of raw, uncoated 5052 marine grade aluminum. It will not rust, and it is very resistant to corrosion. For example, many boats are made out of this aluminum. The rough grinded finish will allow scratches on the soft aluminum to blend over time. We prefer this simplicity over worrying about scratches in paint.

We recommend Renaissance Wax for protecting all our raw metal products indoors and outdoors. This wax was designed by UK museums to protect many of their items, and it is known to enhance the appearance of the item. It is extremely easy to apply. Simply wipe it on with a cloth. In 15 minutes it will cure into an invisible, hard protective layer. The surface should then be gently buffed with a clean, dry cloth (not the cloth the wax was applied with). Allow 60 minutes between coats for proper curing. Apply multiple coats for enhanced durability.

If the coats are not thin enough and/or the excess is not gently buffed off after each coat, then this can cause a black residue to be left on things that come in contact with the surface. When used outdoors, this wax is typically applied 1-2 times per year, depending on climate and handling. When used indoors, it can last much longer. However, high contact areas may require reapplication every few months. Some level of corrosion may still be experienced.
